Workdays
Lake Hamilton Habitat Restoration Project

Get Hooked on Helping Lake Hamilton!

These are pictures of days we've worked building habitat for Lake Hamilton.

Hauling bamboo for condos. It takes 200 stalks to make 10 condos.
Many hours go into cutting, trimming and transporting. Volunteers are welcome and wanted.

Bamboo Condos are 10-12 feet tall and at least as wide. Each drop is approximately 600 cu. ft. of cover for the fish.
One-thousand of these in the lake will make a difference over a 5-6 year period.

The Bamboo Casa is only half as tall as the condos and designed for mid-range water depths.
Ten-foot drainage pipe is cut into five-foot lengths and then drilled with large holes.

We always need buckets (all the buckets we can get).
We hand mix the concrete and insert the pipe. Strong backs are always welcome to help.

The Bamboo Casa is assembled on the barge. Essentially, it make a large "X" that is off the lake bottom and will not become silted over. These are sunk in the correct locations to serve as staging areas during pre-spawn.

We are working hard for our lake, for you and for future generations to fish Lake Hamilton.
